With Tired Eyes…Explosions In The Sky – France

Interview July 21, 2010

How is going life in Austin recently? Summer time?
Chris: Things are going pretty well.  We've been home a lot, which is nice.  It's hot.

How are doing Sandra (Bullock) and Lance (Armstrong)?
Chris: I'm sure they're fine.

About "Sad Loud America", it was your label i guess ? Is the label still alive ? Or it was just a label to help you to release "How Strange, Innocence" ? I actually really like that label name.
Chris: I like that name, too.  It was really just something used for that record.  The name was actually thought up by our good friend Kurt.  We haven't put anything out on the label since the original version of How Strange, Innocence.  So I guess that means it doesn't exist anymore.  But maybe we'll bring it back someday.

What's up with the writting process of the new album of explosions?
Chris: We have five songs done and we're working on a sixth.  However, the sixth one is causing us some trouble, so there is no telling as to when we'll actually be done.

How many songs you're going to have? Is it something decided yet?
Chris: we're still not sure yet.

Have you already planned a recording session this year?
Chris: We're gonna do some recording sometime this Fall, but whether or not we'll be recording the whole record is uncertain.    But we have no idea when we'll actually put a new record out.  Maybe next spring or summer.

Should we expect some news instruments?
Chris: That's a secret.

Esteban will still work on the artwork?
Chris: Yep.  He's working on it as we speak. But we're in the very early stages of that.

You're going to play some shows soon in August and September, it's been a long time... And you will play some new songs? Only new songs or is your setlist is going to be mixed with some old ones?
Chris: We do plan on playing a couple of new songs. So it'll be a mix of stuff.  We don't want to play too much new stuff so far ahead of the release of the record.

What are you listenning to theses last days?
Chris: Eluvium, Big Boi, the new Wolf Parade...I can't think of anything else. for some reason I haven't been listening to a whole lot music lately.

Have you guys watched The World Cup (soccer) in South Africa ?
Chris: I didn't really watch much of it, but I think the other guys in the band did.
